The new generation of ICAS members had a chance to pick up some tips from more established members of the profession at a unique networking event: the ICAS “masterclass” dinner
Held in September at the Mayfair Hotel, London, the masterclass brought together recently qualified CAs with six successful fellow members: David Reid, chairman of supermarket giant Tesco; Jann Brown, finance director with oil business Cairn Energy; David Cruickshank, chairman, Deloitte & Touche; Jock Lennox, a partner with Ernst & Young; Marta Phillips, director of compliance for the National Lottery Commission; and Mary Campbell, founder and director of corporate finance firm Blàs.
The guests took part in an open discussion and chatted with the young members informally during the evening, taking questions on topics from career planning and the “glass ceiling” to professional ethics and work/life balance.
Also attending were ICAS Chief Executive Anton Colella and Bruce Pritchard, chairman, England & Wales area committee.
