Alan Hartley, finance director with housebuilders MacTaggart & Mickel, has been spreading the CA message to the next generation
As the main speaker at a “careers breakfast” at St Margaret’s School, Edinburgh, Hartley told pupils in the 5th and 6th years that chartered accountancy had opened doors for him, offering an interesting and rewarding career.
Jandy Stevenson CA, a partner at Henderson Loggie and chairman of the governors at St Margaret’s, organised the event.
She said: “The careers breakfast provided pupils with an opportunity to ask adults why they chose a particular career, what they liked and disliked about it, and for advice about entering a chosen area of work. It provided a business like opportunity to find out about potential careers. This is an event that we will definitely be repeating.”
