Institutes offer guidance on realised profits and losses

A consolidation of guidance on realised and distributable profits under the Companies Act 1985 from the ICAEW and ICAS was issued in February 2008
A consolidation of guidance on realised and distributable profits under the Companies Act 1985 from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland was issued in February 2008. It supersedes all previous technical releases issued by the institutes dealing with realised and distributable profits and losses and is available on the ICAS and the ICAEW websites. In due course, it will be further updated to reflect the requirements of the Companies Act 2006.
