Glasgow accountants and business advisers AS Fisher & Co have merged into Martin Aitken & Co to create the city's largest mid-tier accountancy firm

The move brings Stephen Neville as a partner and Jack Shore as a consultant together with their staff. The annual turnover of MACo’s general practice will be over £2m.
The merger increases MACo’s client bank by 25 per cent and means it now has eight partners and over 70 staff.
MACo’s senior partner Graham Tough, (right in picture) said: “The mid-tier is where the action is in Scottish accountancy today as we adapt to the needs of the modern marketplace and offer small to medium-sized businesses a real alternative to the bigger firms.
“This is our fourth merger in fourteen years and is part of our strategy of steady, disciplined, careful growth. With this merger, compatibility was key. AS Fisher is a good fit and the move is beneficial for both firms.”
Neville (left in picture) said: “We share the same philosophy of providing outstanding personal service. We also agree excellent client care is paramount, from the quality of our staff to getting it right first time, in-depth training and efficient back-office administration, so the synergy is good.”
