Shop sales show second fall

31 Dec 08

UK retail sales fell 4 per cent in November, the British Retail Consortium-KPMG retail survey shows. It was the first time the 13-year-old survey had two consecutive monthly falls – it fell 0.1 per cent in October

The report said retailers were now facing a “nerve-racking Christmas”.

Food and drink was the only sector where November sales rose, thanks to continued heavy discounting by the supermarkets.
