Accounting bodies merger approved

1 Feb 10

The vast majority of the members of Royal NIVRA and NOvAA have agreed to a merger between the two professional accounting bodies in the Netherlands. NIVRA and NOvAA simultaneously organised member meetings in Amsterdam and Utrecht on 16 December

The two associations will now enter into a dialogue with the Dutch Ministry of Finance to formulate a single new joint accounting act. After the merger, NIVRA and NOvAA will continue as NBA, an acronym for the Dutch Professional Accounting Organisation.

The two offices are expected to be combined as of mid-2010, and the merged organisation will be based in Amsterdam.

More than 7,300 NIVRA and NOvAA members took part in the poll prior to the two member meetings. Over 70 percent of respondents were in favour of the merger proposal.
