Watchdog issues first verdicts on audit firms

The Professional Oversight Board (POB), part of the Financial Reporting Council, has published its first set of reports after inspecting four firms’ audits
The Audit Inspection Unit’s (AIU) inspections for 2008/9 covered PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG, Grant Thornton and Horwath Clark Whitehill.
The reports cover reviews of firm-wide procedures and individual audits primarily conducted by the AIU in the period from April 2008 to March 2009. The individual audits reviewed related to financial years ending between March 2007 and June 2008.
