Nearly half of chief financial officers have said they feel confident about increased economic prospects for their companies in the next six months, and job prospect for accountants are also looking up
Research from the latest Robert Half CFO Confidence Index shows 47 per cent of CFOs feel optimistic, compared to the same time last year when 84 per cent of finance leaders were pessimistic about prospects for their companies.
Job prospects for accountants are up, with nearly one in five (17 per cent) of UK CFOs saying their companies would be looking to hire permanent accountancy staff over the next six months. This is up from 1 per cent who said they had plans to hire more accounting staff this time last year.
Prospects are up mainly in the City, with 29 per cent of CFOs saying they will start hiring again in the next six months, citing increased workloads and business growth as the main reasons.
The index also revealed that 67 per cent of CFOs intend to maintain their current accounting and finance staff levels in the next six months.
Robert Half UK’s managing director Phil Sheridan said: “The increase in confidence currently being felt by finance chiefs is promising for job seekers looking for either permanent or temporary positions.”
