“You, you and you: you’re volunteering. And you, and you, and you...” And so on for about 600 people

That’s how many of the staff from PricewaterhouseCoopers took part in Scotland’s biggest corporate volunteering event last month in Dunkeld.
During the firm’s All Scotland Day – which aimed to give employees the chance to learn more about the company’s vision for the future and to share their skills with local communities through volunteering – 200 people joined the children, teachers and parents form the local community to help plant the largest children’s orchard in Scotland. The project aims to establish a valuable and fruitful resource for the local Perthshire community for years to come.
Others took part in a range of activities from organising Christmas stock for the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland to offering free business planning advice to about 50 social enterprises from as far away as Orkney.
The volunteering element was supported by Scottish Business in the Community. SBC helps companies engage with communities through its Employee Supported Volunteering programme.
Frank Blin, executive chairman Scotland, Pricewater- houseCoopers said: "This has particular relevance as increasingly charities and social enterprises are silent victims of the economic downturn.
“Our staff have a strong track record of giving back to the communities in which we work and have really enjoyed working with the enterprises today.”
