Wakeham must have sighed with relief when the accountants’ Joint Disciplinary Scheme announced that it would take no further action against him, or any accountants in Andersen’s UK practice, over the collapse of Enron.
BAD MONTH> Andy Hornby, chief executive, HBOS
Nobody expected the financial giant’s rights issue to be an easy ride, but it was snubbed by all but 8.29 per cent of its shareholders. HBOS got its £4 billion – that was underwritten – but lost a lot of credibility in the City.
